Harvest Paradise

Frisky Rhythms presents Harvest Paradise

Recorded in the second half of May here's another blend of house music that straddles a number of the sub-genres. As with most of my shows, you won't find it packed with all the latest promos, rather a selection of tracks that, after a few weeks, or longer in some cases, still manage to hold my attention.

The show gets under way with Monkey Brothers ft Shaun Escoffery - Losin' My Head which oozes soul, especially in the mix I've included from legends Terry Hunter and Mike Dunn. Originally released back in 2007, this version landed around March of this year just ahead of lock-down. Jumping forward a month we find Neil Pierce & Kadija Kamara collaborating to create "Give" which oozes depth and soul. The third track finds New Jersey's Mark Francis on the remix of a soothing track from Dana Weaver whose vocals are as enticing as you could possibly hope for.

The mood changes a little as we head back to January of 2019 and a release on Seattle's Viva Recordings. Andy Compton and Rogiers' "Feel Free" gets the South African treatment from Miz Dee and the resulting slice of deep house is enchanting. We head deeper still with Eventual Groove's "OAYSIS", one from March 2019 that's remained in my virtual crate for over a year now. The second phase concludes by bringing us back up to date with a remix of a classic reinterpreted by Groove Junkies & Reelsoul with Nichelle Monroe. The Isley Brothers 70s number gets a deep rub from Sean Ali & Munk Julious.

Moving on we find another track from earlier this year with Eric Kupper providing the remix of Ordinary Man "Walking Alone" featuring the enticing vocals of Christel. This heralds a change of direction into straight up vocal and uplifting house music that persists until the end of the show. Yam Who? provides the disco flavoured interpretation of SIRS & Stee Downs' release "Forever" leading nicely into a cover of the Diana Ross classic "I'm Coming Out". This one finds Purple Music head honcho Jamie Lewis working his magic on an excellent re-working by Fabe DJ & Saachi.

As we enter the final phase of the show we find Full Intention injecting the funk of Birdee and Barbara Tucker's "Free Yourself". As you'd expect given those involved, it does not disappoint. The penultimate track finds Michael Gray teaming up with Mark Knight to remix Jasper Street Company's cover of "Paradise", the Change classic. It's a real challenge not to sing along nearly 40 years on from the original. Finally we reach the end of the road, revisiting an early 90s house classic. Maurice Joshua and Chantay Savage's "I Gotta Hold On U" finally gets a digital release on Steve Silk Hurley's S&S Records.

At the time of writing, I already have another couple of shows in the bag, meantime I hope you enjoy the tunes and those words of description I've put together.

Harvest Paradise was compiled and mixed by Dean Serafini for Frisky Rhythms & JJazproJect Sessions.
