Blaze - So Special [Motown]
Yet again we find ourselves back in 1990, this time revisiting the first single taken from Blaze's debut long player 25 Years Later. Co produced with Timmy Regisford, "So Special" is an uplifting piano led track imbued with a spirit of hopefulness courtesy of the inspirational nature of its lyrics. I remember picking this and the album up; they were must haves for me based on the strength of remixes and productions that Blaze had been involved with a year or two earlier for Womack & Womack, Blacksmith and Phase II to name just a small selection. At the time I wasn't famililar with "If You Should Need A Friend" which is now considered a classic, (released a few years earlier). That the duo of Josh Milan & Kevin Hedge have endured for another three decades, (Chris Herbert departing during the early 90s), is testament to the quality and integrity of their music.

Guri Guri Boys ft Josh Milan - Be Yourself (Remixes) [King Street Sounds]
Following on from July's initial release, Guri Guri Boys are back with new mixes that are destined to see plenty of dance floor action over the coming weeks and months. This time around the package features a couple of DJ tools plus four new mixes. First up is Michele Chiavarini whose "Exotic Remix" and Piano Dub" both introduce a light hearted Latin flavour that almost instantly transports you to warmer climates; I'm thinking cocktails on the beach. The double bass dovetails perfectly with the percussion while the keyboards and brass dance around Josh's warm vocal tones. Namy & Fuminori Kagojo team up to create an organic soul infused ride that mirrors the uplifting sentiment behind the lyrics. The package concludes with the equally effective "Monolog Dub". Four excellent mixes but it's Michele Chiavarini's Exotic Mix" that's making the greatest impact on me. Available to pre-order now on Traxsource with an official release date of 23rd November.

Promo Heat
This is the pick of the promos to arrive in my inbox this week. Brand new from Ralf GUM's GoGo Music imprint it's a beautifully constructed soulful gem with the sweetest of vocals. The mixes come from Sir LSG and Josh Milan so you know without evening listening that this is one to check out sooner rather than later.
