Purple Music was founded in 1997 by Jamie Lewis who's still in charge more than 20 years later with quite literally hundreds of releases behind him. Initially as a label, it was a go-to player for soulful, and uplifting house grooves, expanding its repertoire over the years to showcase, deeper, funkier and edgier productions in a stable of five different imprints. Significantly the journey also afforded its boss the opportunity to work with the legendary Prince, a privilege only a select few have been fortunate enough to enjoy. I've picked out a few of my personal favourites, of which there are many, but I've managed to whittle it down to a selection of 12 that still have me cranking up the volume every time.
