Jesse Saunders ft Dani Ivory - Kaleidescope [Broken Records]
Jesse Saunders is back with a laid back soulful house groove "Kaleidescope". Featuring the sweet, soothing vocals of Dani Ivory, there's a total of 12 mixes, dubs and instrumentals with significant contributions from a few well known figures within the house scene. It all starts with Jesse's original mix and its chugging rhythms that could be a train rolling down the tracks, cool atmospheric vibes and those vocals I already mentioned. I can easily imagine myself on a beach with a refreshment or three and this for company. DeMarkus Lewis delivers his "Afro Remix" adding more tribal rhythms but otherwise staying quite close to the original production. Stacy Kidd's "House 4 Life Remix" injects a warm bass groove, gently played keys and skippier beats. Next to step up is Paul Johnson with his "Tech HouseNation Dub" which adds techier synths and a much rawer groove. The package is rounded off by the much tougher and darker vibe of the "VMS Down Under Remix" which is aimed squarely at the main room. All the mixes work well with the vocals and there's something for most audiences within the package. Altogether it's very pleasing on the ear with the "Original" proving my pick of the mixes so far. Due for release on 6th September.
