Bobby D'Ambrosio ft Lasala - Runaway Love [Soulfuric Recordings]

As I sit with my morning cuppa I find myself transported back to 2006 and a beautiful cover version. Bobby D'Ambrosio teams up with vocalist Lasala to reinterpret the Linda Clifford 1978 classic "Runaway Love". Nearly 30 years on from the original, these mixes are intended for a newer audience and the tempo is raised significantly to reflect this. I've picked out "Marquito's Classic Rework" which is underpinned by a blend of rhodes and piano alongside funky bass and gorgeous strings. Lasala's vocals sit perfectly within the arrangement and do the original composition full justice and then some. Flashback 2000

"Where Would We Be" was put out as a promo on Soulfuric back in 2000 but never actually saw a full release due to difficulty clearing the samples. Built on a chassis of D Train's classic "Music", it's a funky and uplifting vibe that has never failed me in 21 years. It launched Copyright on a succesful path that led Gavin Mills, Sam Holt to their own label and releases on Defected (Scotti De La Hoya leaving the team).

Underground Ministries ft Kenny Bobien - I Shall Not Be Moved [Flatline Records]

Back to the heady days of the late 90s, 1999 to be precise and a slice of uplifting gospel house music. Between the bounding keys and Kenny Bobien's falsetto delivery this is guaranteed to get your feet moving and hands in the air. The track made a reappearance on Soulfuric 8 years later with further mixes from DJ Meme and Brian Tappert both of which also delivered big time on the right floors but I've always had a soft spot for the original release.

Flashback

Heading back to 1996 and a track that I must have played hundreds of times. In actual fact this was not the mix that I played most frequently, "The Original Vibe Mix" being my weapon of choice but every version saw multiple plays over the years and it's still a track I never tire of hearing.

Blast From The Past - Jetlag

It's difficult to believe that it's been fifteen years since this surfaced on vinyl on the prolific (at the time) Soulfuric Trax. The weapon of choice for me was always the Axwell & BT Essence Dub which also featured recently on the Jazz'n'Groove Housemasters release on Defected.
