Flashback

Martha Wash - Carry On [RCA Records]

Heading back in time for the first issue of what can only be described as classic house music. While the song received subsequent remixes from Todd Terry, Full Intention and Tuff Jam in 1997 it was Louie Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzalez as Masters At Work who delivered the mixes that have stood the test of time. By 1992, and following on from her role in The Weather Girls, Martha had went on to provide the vocals for massive commercially succesful productions by Black Box and C&C Music Factory. In the case of Black Box, Martha's vocals were used without her permission and without payment and it was the subsequent litigation and resulting publicity that helped to propel the start of her solo career. The vocals on this one are quite breathtaking and I've picked out a couple of the Masters At Work mixes for your consideration. Enjoy!
